Mayor Nickels Releases Mid-Term Report
"We've set the right direction. Let's keep moving!"

SEATTLE - Mayor Greg Nickels today released a mid-term report that shows major progress in the city on his top priorities of improving transportation and public safety, creating jobs and strengthening communities.

"When I took office, I promised the city would make a difference in people's lives, and we're doing that," said Nickels. "We put a focus on basics and set a direction for City government. We've started building a 21st century transportation system, we've cleared hurdles to creating thousands of good-paying jobs, we're working to become the most prepared city in America and we're making it possible for families to afford to live in the city. And, we've got lots more to do."

The report includes major milestones during the mayor's first two years in office that have helped the city move forward on Nickels' top four priorities for city government:

  • Get Seattle moving
  • Create jobs and opportunity for all
  • Keep our neighborhoods safe
  • Build strong families and healthy communities

"Seattle has an unlimited future. Our job is to open the doors to opportunity. We must continue to earn citizens' trust by taking care of the basics," said Nickels.
