Facing Hate Crimes
Human Rights Commission Sponsors Community Forum

National anti-hate advocate Ismael Ileto will speak at "Facing Hate Crimes," a community forum on Friday, September 26, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Masonic Temple Gran Oriente, 117 15th Avenue S. in Seattle.

Sponsored by the Seattle Human Rights Commission and FACES (Filipino American Civic Employees of Seattle), the Forum will feature a panel discussion about hate crimes as well as audience participation.

Ismael Ileto is the brother of postal worker Joseph Ileto, who was murdered in 1999 by a neo-Nazi in Los Angeles. Since his brother’s death, Ismael Ileto has traveled nationwide to address hate crimes. He is currently a member of the Attorney General’s Commission on Hate Crimes.

The Forum is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The Forum’s co-sponsors include the Seattle Office for Civil Rights, Seattle Police Department and Department of Neighborhoods.

This event is barrier-free. To request a reasonable accommodation or for more information, contact Marta Idowu at 206-684-4540 (TTY 206-684-4503).
