TVSea Feature Segment Wins Regional Emmy award

SEATTLE — TVSea, Seattle’s municipal cable channel, picked up an Emmy award in the "public affairs segment" category for its feature story "Just Like Noah" at the 39th annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards, held June 15, 2002. The award-winning clip can be viewed on-line as streamed video at http://www2.ci.seattle.wa.us/media/ (a link is located within the "award winning videos" category).

The 15-minute segment profiles Noah Gray, a homeless Seattle man. The camera follows Noah as he struggles with health issues and a search for housing, along with the other hardships facing those trying to survive on the streets of Seattle. Producer Christina Darden and photographer/editor Ralph Bevins created this segment for TVSea. Hap Freund was executive producer.

The Seattle-Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) serves television professionals in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska and Montana. The Northwest Regional Emmy Awards ceremonies highlight each year’s activities.

TVSea is available on channel 21 for AT&T Broadband cable customers and channel 28 for Millennium cable customers. About 58 percent of Seattle residents subscribe to cable television.

TVSea is also webcast around the clock on the Internet. The same programming carried on the city municipal channel is simultaneously streamed on-line.
