City Employees Take Their Daughters to Work
Girls and boys learn about their families’ work in the City

WHEN: Thursday, April 25 for all events. See below for times / locations of specific events.

WHAT: The City of Seattle will sponsor 33 different activities for City employees to celebrate Take Our Daughters to Work Day.

PHOTO/VIDEO OPPORTUNITIES:

TOWN HALL , 11 am –noon, Municipal Building, 11^th floor, 600 4^th Avenue
Children will participate in a lively question and answer session with Mayor Nickels and nine women leaders in city government in City Council Chambers.

MONSTER TRUCKS, 8 a.m.-noon, 714 S. Charles St.
Children take a close up look at monster trucks and other large equipment used by Seattle Transportation. Participants will ride in the bucket of a traffic signal or a landscape truck.

TOUR LONGFELLOW CREEK WEST SEATTLE, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Children will explore the waters from Longfellow Creek to the Duwamish River, meet an elder of the Duwamish Tribe, and work on 4-5 renewal projects along the river.

PAINT OUT GRAFFITI, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., South Transfer Station, 8100 2nd Ave. S.
Children will work as graffiti rangers for a day and paint a mural on a recycling drop box with Seattle Public Utilities.

NATURE IN THE CITY, 9-11 a.m., 1010 8^th Ave. S.
Children will help a Landscape Crew plant flowers and will watch a tree care demonstration.

BRIDGE BUILDING, 10 a.m.-noon, 714 S. Charles St.
Participants will work in teams to build model bridges.

FIRE STATION 10, 9:30-10:30 a.m., 1-2 p.m., 2-3 p.m., 301 2^nd Avenue S.
Children will take a guided tour of Station 10, climb into a fire engine and medic unit, and have their pictures taken with Sparky the Firedog.

FINGERPRINTING, 11 a.m.-noon, Public Safety Building, 4^th floor, 600 3^rd Avenue
Children will learn how and why fingerprints are taken, tour the unit and take their own fingerprints.

SWAT TEAM DEMONSTRATION, 1-3 p.m., Public Safety Building, 3^rd Floor, 600 Third Ave.
Seattle Police Department’s SWAT Team will demonstrate its gear and various maneuvers used to stop crime.
