Statement from Mayor Ed Murray on the passing of Billy Frank, Jr.

SEATTLE - Mayor Ed Murray today issued the following statement on the passing of Billy Frank, Jr.:

"The Northwest lost a pillar of our community today with the passing of Billy Frank, Jr.

"Billy and I first met when I was a teenager and I was honored to have our paths cross on many occasions over the years. Billy was one of the great civil rights champions of our time and his legacy will live on through his great work, accomplishments, and constant commitment to fishing rights, social justice and equality for the Northwest Tribes.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Billy’s family and everyone mourning his passing."
