Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative announces 2014 funding opportunities
Matching and mini grants focus on reducing and preventing youth violence

January 8, 2014 (Seattle, WA) – The Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative (SYVPI), a city program established to reduce youth violence, announces its 2014 community funding opportunities. There are two funds available to serve SYVPI-enrolled youth in Central, Southeast and Southwest Seattle – the Community Matching Grant and the Mini Community Grant. Both opportunities seek innovative, community-based projects to supplement existing SYVPI programs and services.

The Community Matching Grant funds up to $25,000 and requires a 50% community match. The match may include volunteer labor, donated supplies, meeting space, professional services and/or cash that shows community commitment to, and investment in, a project. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, March 21, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. For more information and criteria, visit

The Mini Community Grant funds small projects up to $2,500. Applications for the Mini Community Grant are accepted throughout the year.  For more information, visit

SYVPI focuses on reducing and preventing youth violence in three areas where youth violence is highest – Central, Southeast, and Southwest Seattle. Each area is served by an SVYPI Neighborhood Network led by a community-based agency that coordinates youth referrals to services. This year the Initiative will serve up to 1500 youth.
