Celebrate Arbor Day with the City of Seattle
On Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 you and your family are invited to join an interdepartmental team of City of Seattle employees to celebrate Arbor Day. The Arbor Day celebration will be 9 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Park, 8011 Fauntleroy Way SW.
Volunteers will help plant 26 native conifers and deciduous trees in the northeast area of Lincoln Park. Gloves and tools will be provided, along with coffee and refreshments. The entire family can participate and meet the urban foresters from Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle City Light, and the Office of Sustainability and Environment.
Urban trees are critical to Seattle’s infrastructure, contributing to our health and well-being, to our quality of life, to the health of our environment. Mayor Mike McGinn proclaimed Oct. 26, 2013 to be Arbor Day in Seattle. For the past 28 years, Seattle has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a “Tree City USA.” For more information about Seattle city trees, visit http://www.seattle.gov/trees/.
