Lower Kinnear Park renovation starts this week

Work on lower Kinnear Park improvements is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. The work will include tennis court renovation, hillside path completion, ADA access enhancement, main access route restoration, forest restoration in some areas, utility work and the addition of site furnishings. Mata Contractors expects to complete the work early in 2014.

During construction, a security fence will be installed around the project area to limit access to the park. There will be construction traffic during normal business hours.

Access into the park from Roy St. will be limited: a narrow path will be kept open for as long as possible, but may need to be closed during some stages of construction. The off-leash area will remain open from the lower (south) part of the park. Upper Kinnear will remain open during work in the lower park.

This project is funded by the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund and is the next phase following a community-initiated Neighborhood Matching Fund project.
