Queen Anne Pool maintenance closure extended

Queen Anne Pool, 1920 1st Ave. W, has been closed for maintenance since Monday, Aug. 5, and was scheduled to re-open on Monday, Sept. 9. The pool will now open on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

During the closure, maintenance workers replaced the pool liner, which was installed when the pool was constructed in 1977. The liner work revealed a leak in the pool drains. The additional closure days will allow workers to fix the drains.

The drain work will not affect swimming lessons at the pool, which have not yet started. Recreational and exercise swimmers are encouraged to use other pools on the two days of the unplanned closure. Ballard, Evans and Medgar Evers pools all have midday water exercise programs and several lap swim opportunities.

Visitors should check the Queen Anne Pool message line at 206-386-4282 for updates.

Queen Anne Pool is 200,000-gallon, 25-yard, 6-lane pool. It has 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards, a rope swing, sauna and two family changing rooms. The pool temperature is 85 degrees. The facility offers a variety of lap swim opportunities and exercise programs, as well as swimming lessons for all ages from 6 months old to adult. For more information about lessons, please visit our website.
