Young people can learn about higher education and career opportunities
SEATTLE — Seattle students, age 14-21, will have a chance to learn about current education and career opportunities at the 2013 Education, Career and Resource Fair, Friday, February 15, 2013, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Rainier Community Center, 4600 38th Ave. S.
Youth will be able to interact with 60+ vendors and attend workshops that focus on resume writing, interviewing, and applying for schools and employment.
This year, many of the vendors will have hands-on/interactive displays to engage and encourage youth. All vendors will also have information about their programs and industries.
The fair is sponsored by Seattle Youth Employment Consortium (SYEC), Seattle Human Services Department's Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Upward Bound program, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, MetroCenter YMCA, and YouthCare.
SYEP provides academic support, work-readiness, and financial literacy training for youth ages 14-21. More than 90% of SYEP participants are youth of color and are from low-income families. They, also, have little or no work experience, and often struggle in school.
For more information, please contact the SYEP office at 206-684-0293 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
