SEATTLE – Seattle City Light crews restored power Tuesday afternoon to all customers affected by a power outage in the Rainier View and West Hill neighborhoods of Seattle along with Skyway, and parts of Renton and Tukwila.

About 3,000 homes and businesses were affected by the outage, which started about 2 p.m. Service was restored about 3:30 p.m. The general boundaries of the outage were S. Bangor Street on the north; S. 170th Street on the south; 42nd Avenue S on the west; and 76th Avenue S on the east.

Crews found several power lines wrapped together near the intersection of 68th Avenue S and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. They routed power around the damage to restore service to customers, and then started making repairs to the lines.

Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
