Seattle Park Board to hold regular meeting October 11
The Seattle Board of Park Commissioners will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 9, in the Kenneth R. Bounds Park Board Room at 100 Dexter Ave. N, in Denny Park at the corner of Dexter and Denny.
The meeting agenda includes:
Update briefing: Central Waterfront.
Staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation will brief the Board on the work of the Central Waterfront Committee (CWC). The transformation of Seattle's waterfront is made possible by the removal of the failing Alaskan Way Viaduct and replacement of the deteriorating Elliott Bay Seawall. . These projects open-up new public space, from the Olympic Sculpture Park to Pioneer Square, for parks and paths, access to the water, places to enjoy views, vibrant public and cultural spaces, and a new urban street that will accommodate all modes of travel and provide an important connection in the City's transportation system.
The project is jointly led by the Seattle Department of Transportation, the Department of Planning and Development and Seattle Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the CWC. The CWC is made up of a wide range of volunteer community representatives and leaders appointed by the city Council. They are charged with broad oversight of design, financing, public engagement, long-term operations and maintenance.
A briefing paper is available on the web here.
