Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Specialized Programs Advisory Council will host a golf tournament on Saturday, September 29 to raise funds for the programs. Tee time is 8 a.m. at the Jackson Park Golf Course, 1000 NE 135th St.
The day’s events include:
- Format will be a 4 person scramble with a shotgun start.
- Lunch and an award ceremony (immediately following the tournament) are included in the $150 registration fee – registration deadline is August 31.

Half of the registration fee goes directly to Specialized Programs; participants receive receipts for their donations right at the check-in table.
Specialized Populations offers year-round programs and activities for people with disabilities, specifically designed and provided by staff trained to meet their needs. Activities include, wheelchair basketball, weekend trips, after school programs, social classes such as cooking, yoga, and fitness, and camping in the summer. For more information on the programs, please go to http://www.seattle.gov/parks/SpecialPops/index.htm.
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for equipment, special events, summer camp fees, and scholarships throughout the year. It is an opportunity for community members and program participants and their families and friends to show support for Specialized Programs through golf. Seattle Parks and Recreation covers the cost of all staff, vans, publicity, paperwork, and the use of facilities, and it is through the fundraising efforts of the Specialized Programs Advisory Council that we are able to provide uniforms for our sports teams, buy equipment, and provide scholarships for youth and adults so that no one is turned away because they cannot afford the fees.
The public or local businesses can support the fund raiser in several different ways:
- Become a sponsor of the event; a variety of sponsorship packages are available.
- Make a tax-deductible donation.
- Tell your golfing friends and enter as a foursome.
- Come just to watch and show support for our participants and family members
To submit a donation, please mail it to Specialized Programs Advisory Council, 4554 NE 41st St., Seattle, WA 98105.
