Watch it live tonight: Joint Public Hearing on Proposed SODO Arena
Seattle and King County Councilmembers will hear public testimony on a new multi-purpose sports arena

Councilmembers from both the City and County will participate in a joint public hearing regarding the proposed sports arena. Lawmakers are considering a proposal from Mayor Mike McGinn, King County Executive Dow Constantine and private investor Chris Hansen. Hansen is proposing a sports facility to bring back the Seattle Sonics and an NHL team. While private investors will contribute a portion of the finance, up to $200 million in public bonds are needed to complete the deal.

Local author and Crosscut columnist, Knute Berger kicks off an afternoon of celebration of all things Century 21 at The Elliot Bay Book Company. Berger's new book, "Space Needle: Spirit of Seattle," contains many new stories and images never seen before. Berger will be joined by HistoryLink historians Paula Becker and Alan J. Stein, authors of The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Its Legacy (Century 21 Foundation) and novelist Jim Lynch, whose latest book, Truth Like the Sun (Knopf), is set in part during the fair, for a lively discussion of all Century 21-related matters. For 30 years, Dennis Coleman has led the Seattle Men's and Women's Choruses to a position or artistic excellence. The two choirs have a combined singing membership that exceeds that of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Coleman has served as a guest conductor throughout the U.S. and Canada. A Grammy award winner, Coleman has collaborated with choirs and acclaimed artists throughout his musical career.
