Seattle Parks and Recreation and Skanska USA Building Inc., invite the community to a ribbon cutting celebration for the new Magnuson Park picnic shelter #1 located near the 65th Street boat ramp. The event takes place Friday, May 4, 2012 from 2 – 3 p.m.
The new picnic shelter is built of durable materials to reduce maintenance and lessen opportunities for vandalism. Seattle Parks and Recreation cumulative reserve funds provided $40,000 in funding for design, permitting and administration of the project while Skanska USA volunteers and subcontractor partners donated labor and materials valued at more than $150,000 to construct the replacement facility. The Seattle Conservation Corps provided excavation and concrete work for the project.
“This is a great partnership,” said Christopher Williams, Seattle Parks and Recreation Acting Superintendent. “In this budget climate we value these generous private donations and joint efforts to create wonderful new amenities for the community.”
A builder and general contractor in the Puget Sound region since 1946, Skanska USA works to provide opportunities for employee volunteerism and philanthropic giving to propel the heart and spirit of Skanska in the community.
