Seattle Park Board to hold regular meeting April 26

The Seattle Board of Park Commissioners will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the Kenneth R. Bounds Park Board Room at 100 Dexter Ave. N, in Denny Park at the corner of Dexter and Denny.

The meeting agenda includes:

Planning and Development Division briefing.
Parks Planning and Development Division Director Michael Shiosaki will provide the Board with an update on the recent activities of the division, whose lines of business include capital planning, property acquisition services, park engineering and design, capital project implementation (primary fund sources are the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy and the Cumulative Reserve Subfund for major maintenance projects), and the Seattle Conservation Corps.

Panel discussion on Parks’ levels of services
Recreation Division Director Sue Goodwin and Acting Parks Division Director Dan Johnson will lead a Board discussion of levels of service in both recreation and park/facility maintenance. The Board heard a briefing on the Parks Division levels of service at its March 8 meeting, and a briefing on the Recreation Division levels of service at its March 22 meeting. The Seattle Board of Park Commissioners is a nine-member citizen board created by the City Charter. Four members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council; four members are appointed by the City Council; and one member is a young adult appointed by the YMCA Get Engaged Program (http://www.leadershiptomorrowseattle.org/YMCA.asp). The Board meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month to advise the Parks and Recreation Superintendent, the Mayor, and the City Council on parks and recreation matters.
