Seattle Parks offers youth summer service opportunities
Attention youth workers, summer teen camps, program coordinators, educators

Join Seattle Parks and Recreation at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at Rainier Community Center, 4600 38th Ave. S, to learn about 2012 summer service opportunities.

Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Urban Forestry and Trails Program is now booking dates for summer 2012 service opportunities in Seattle parks from Jun 25 to August 31.

Planning for every day of the summer can be a real challenge these days, what with shrinking budgets and seemingly more and more participants. Seattle Parks has traditionally been a place where youth can engage in service to the community, and we have been working to help formalize that opportunity for organizations. We provide tools, gloves, and an educational experience for your group on one or more occasions this summer, and in some situations we may be able to provide transportation to and from the site! This is a turn-key experience that takes one more activity off your plate, and it’s free!

Urban Forestry and Trails Service events are usually four to six hours long and participants engage in vital tasks such as removal of invasive plants, trail brushing and clearing, surfacing and other maintenance. Some projects can also involve building small trail structures such as stairs, bridges, and boardwalks.

Join current and former Parks partners such as Seattle Goodwill, YMCA, Zoo Corps, Seattle Youth Employment Program, Mercer Island Voice, Camp Fire and the United Indians’ Labateyah Youth Home in partnering with Seattle Parks and Recreation!
