City opens added shelter for homeless people
Seattle Center space opened
SEATTLE – The City of Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) is working to protect vulnerable residents from winter weather. HSD has opened additional shelter space this weekend in the Rainier Room at the Seattle Center. The Rainier Room (capacity 100) will be open to serve adult men and women from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. through Thursday, January 19.
The City operates two other winter shelters that are open from October 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012: The City Hall shelter (capacity 75) is located at 601 5th Avenue and serves men and women nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; the Frye Hotel (capacity 25) serves women only from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
