Matthew Shepard 1977-1998
The City of Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities adds its voice to the shock and
sadness expressed by many others over the death of Matthew Shepard, an innocent victim of
a hate-motivated attack. Sexual minorities should never worry that their lives are in
danger because of their identity, but Matthews death reminds us that this fear is
based in reality. We send our best wishes to Matthews family and community and hope
to continue working in our capacity with Seattle City Government to promote tolerance and
put an end to hate crime.
