City Attorney Pete Holmes congratulates the four new judges elected to the Seattle Municipal Court and pledges to work tirelessly with the entire court to enhance public safety and dispense justice fairly and efficiently.

Joining the court in January will be Steve Rosen, a former prosecutor for both King and Pierce Counties and municipal judge for the City of Black Diamond; Willie Gregory, a defense attorney and judge pro tem for five years; Karen Donohue, a 16-year judge pro tem; and Ed McKenna, a 20-year prosecutor in the City Attorney’s Office.

Holmes expresses appreciation for the service of the four outgoing judges: Ron Mamiya and George W. Holifield, who are retiring, and Edsonya Charles and Michael Hurtado, who were defeated in last week’s election. Judge Jean Rietschel left the Seattle Municipal Court earlier this year to take a judgeship on the King County Superior Court. Judges Judith M. Hightower, Fred Bonner and C. Kimi Kondo were re-elected in uncontested races and will return to the court next year, along with Commissioner Adam Eisenberg.
