Lunar New Year and 5K Race Saturday

SEATTLE – Saturday morning, February 13, runners will give their hearts a work out celebrating Valentine’s Day by racing around Green Lake.   Later in the day, the Chinatown – International District will celebrate the “Lunar New Year Celebration – Year of the Tiger”  at Hing Hay Park .  The celebration features numerous activities including dragon dancing, Japanese Taiko drumming, calligraphy, and the Children’s Costume Parade.  The Seattle Department of Transportation reminds motorists that there will be added congestion around the event sites, so plan accordingly.

Saturday, February 13:

Love ‘em or Leave ‘em Valentines 5K:   9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.
2,800 participants
Staging area closed at 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.:  W Green Lake Way N between E Green Lake Way N and N 63 rd Street near the Aqua Theater
Race route: clockwise around Green Lake:  Starts adjacent to the Aqua Theater; heads west on W Green Lake Way N to Aurora Avenue N and onto the Green Lake trail; off trail and onto W Green Lake Drive N; east on W Green Lake Drive N to E Green Lake Drive N; east to E Green Lake Way N; south on E Green Lake Way N to approximately Kenwood Place N; west onto Green Lake trail and finish at the Aqua Theater.

Lunar New Year Celebration – Year of the Tiger :  11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Hing Hay Park - 411 Maynard Avenue S
2,500 expected
Streets closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.: S. King Street between Fifth Avenue S and Maynard Avenue S.
