Summer Events Giving Way to Fall Festivals

SEATTLE – Several fall festivals are on tap for this coming weekend, September 25-27, including the Saint Demetrios Greek Festival, Wallingford Wurst Festival, Sustainable Ballard Fall Festival, and the last of the Summer Sundays at Pike Place Market. As crowds in the thousands are expected at these and other events, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises motorists to plan on encountering heavy traffic in the surrounding areas. SDOT encourages motorists to leave their cars at home and try other modes of travel to the weekend activities such as taking the bus, cycling or, if appropriate, walking.

Friday, September 25
Saint Demetrios Greek Festival: Noon – 9 p.m.
2100 Boyer Avenue E
3,000 expected
Expect congestion in the vicinity of the festival.

Wallingford Wurst Festival: 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.
St. Benedict School, N 48th Street and Wallingford Avenue N
2,000 attending
Street closures 6 a.m. Friday – 8 a.m. Sunday: N 49th Street between Wallingford Avenue N and Densmore Avenue.

Saturday, September 26
Seattle AIDS Walk: 10 a.m.
Volunteer Park
2,800 expected
Walk route: Starts at Volunteer Park at 12th E and E Prospect Street; heads south on 12th to E Union Street; west on Union to Broadway Avenue E; north on Broadway to Tenth Avenue E; north on Tenth to E Prospect Street; east on Prospect to 12th Avenue E and back into the park.

Sustainable Ballard Fall Festival: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Ballard Commons Park
2,000 expected
Streets closed 8 a.m. Saturday – 7 p.m. Sunday: 22nd Avenue NW and NW 57th Street adjacent to the park.

Wallingford Wurst Festival: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
St. Benedict School at N 48th Street and Wallingford Avenue N
2,000 expected
Streets closed 6 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday: N 49th Street between Wallingford Avenue N and Densmore Avenue.

Sustainable Ballard Fall Festival: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Streets closed 8:00 a.m. Saturday to 7:00 p.m. Sunday: 22nd Avenue NW and NW 57th Street adjacent to the park.

Expect congestion surrounding the stadium, and on I-5 and the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
