Second Avenue Paving Nears Completion

SEATTLE- This month SDOT’s contractor will complete paving Second Avenue all the way from Denny Way to Jackson Street.

Crews will lay the final surface on Second Avenue from Denny to Pike on Monday and Tuesday nights, September 14 and 15, working from as early as 6 p.m. each night until 6 a.m. the next morning. At least one lane on Second Avenue will remain open.

Concrete repairs on Second Avenue between Pike Street and Yesler Way are now complete and all lanes are open.

Crews are now focused on the area between Yesler Way and Jackson Street in Pioneer Square where they are completely reconstructing the Second Avenue Extension. Drivers should be prepared for closures at times of Third Avenue, Main Street and Washington Street at Second Avenue Extension with detours posted as crews pave these intersections. The contractor expects to complete paving by the end of September.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
