Work Progressing on Greenwood Avenue N
SDOT upgrading street and installing new sidewalks

Seattle--Work on Greenwood Avenue North is past the halfway mark. SDOT’s contractor has nearly completed paving the western side of Greenwood from North 105th to North 112th, and next week will move to the eastern side. Traffic restrictions will continue for eight to nine more weeks, allowing major improvements to be finished on this major arterial and truck route.

One lane of traffic in each direction will continue to be open during general work hours-from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. During other hours, two lanes will remain open in one direction and one lane in the other. During construction on the east side the contractor will provide a pedestrian pathway and access to businesses will be maintained.

Crews will remove the existing pavement, widen the street and install new pavement, followed by sidewalk and driveway construction. The project also includes street trees and lighting.

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) appreciates travelers’ patience. The project will help keep people, goods and services moving and will enhance pedestrian safety.

The Seattle Department of Transportation builds, maintains and operates Seattle's $12 billion transportation infrastructure. To further Mayor Nickels’ goal to get Seattle moving, the department manages short- and long-term investments in streets, bridges, pavement and trees, that better connect the city with the region.
