About The P-Patch
Under the Powerlines: Multi Cultural Community Comes Together to Rebuild
Levy-funded P-Patch community garden expansion inspired New Holly Neighbors to work closely with one another over the past 2 years. Every Saturday in October 2011, volunteers worked to apply finishing touches to the New Holly Youth & Family community garden. Thanks to over 450 volunteer hours, the newly expanded P-Patch is built and ready for seasons to change. NHYF Core Team members helped to facilitate garden events. On March 17, 2012 approximately 45 families from many different cultures were assigned garden plots. Languages spoken & cultures shared are- Amharic, Chinese, English, Somali, Spanish, Thai, Tigrinya, & Vietnamese. In 2012 New Holly Youth & Family P patch is alive & flourishing with the support from New Holly neighbors, Master Gardener Program, and Master Composter Program. Construction phase closes 9.21.2012 (United Way's Day of Caring annual event) with the building of the patio/ gathering space. When taking a stroll or bike ride on the rolling hills of Chief Sealth Trail, come visit our vibrant neighborhood P Patch community garden!
