City departments to host workshop on community grant opportunities
Workshop set for Thursday, January 17

January 4, 2013 (Seattle, WA) - The public is invited to a January 17 workshop on upcoming matching fund opportunities for community –initiated neighborhood or technology projects. Hosted by Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and Department of Information Technology, it will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, 4408 Delridge Way SW.

The workshop will present information on the criteria and application guidelines for the Technology Matching Fund and the Small and Simple Projects Fund which award matching funds to neighborhood groups.

The Technology Matching Fund awards up to $20,000 in matching funds to community projects which increase resident access to information technology, increase literacy in using technology, and/or apply technology to foster civic engagement and community building. The Small and Simple Projects Fund, part of the Neighborhood Matching Fund, awards up to $25,000 to support groups in building community relationships around a project. The application deadline for both funds is March 4 at 5 p.m.

Additional workshops are scheduled for each fund. The Technology Matching Fund will host a second workshop on February 6 at 10 a.m. at the 2100 Building, 2100 24th Avenue S. For the Small and Simple Projects Fund, another workshop will be held on January 29 at 6 p.m. at the Greenwood Public Library, 8016 Greenwood Ave N.  Interpretation services can be requested by contacting the host department at least one week prior to the workshop.
