Who is Involved?

A graphic of a person and a question mark

Who benefits when we reach out to all our neighbors?

  • People who may be uninvolved and want to get connected to their community and to their neighbors.
  • People who have interests to share, such as gardening, planting trees, cooking, or dreaming up ideas to make the community a better place.
  • People in the neighborhood, who find a welcoming neighborhood a fun place to be.
  • People who are already involved in their neighborhood, but who help strengthen their neighborhood bonds by reaching out to welcome others in.
  • People who have perceived barriers - such as age, ability, culture, or language - who might find it hard to get involved or might not know just how to fit in.

All of these people - and many more - have found their lives, and their neighborhoods, richer and fuller because they got involved in their neighborhood or took the time to welcome someone else to join them. They've learned that a strong community depends on all of our participation, and active citizens make our neighborhoods and, thus, our City, more responsive and vibrant. They've put that knowledge to work in neighborhoods throughout Seattle.
