Public Outreach
As Local Reuse Authority for the redevelopment of Fort Lawton, the City of Seattle
is facilitating public involvement to create a plan that adheres to
federal guidelines while ensuring Fort Lawton becomes a livable and diverse
mixed-income community, balancing all of the priorities
while appropriately fitting into the surrounding neighborhood.
Throughout 2006 and 2007, the City held a series of meetings
to inform the public of the process for redevelopment and potential uses for the
site, as well as to gather public feedback.
Since being named the local reuse authority, the City has identified
partners and engaged the public in planning for the development of the reuse
plan. See a contact list for all partners.

Community Relations Plan workshops:
The purpose of the Community Relations Plan is for both the housing providers and neighborhood to work together to ensure that the housing is successful in the neighborhood. See the City's guidelines for developing a community relations plan.
We scheduled three planning meetings—May 19, June 2 and June 19 (this date has changed from June 16)—to gather community input in order to craft a plan. If you are unable to attend these meetings, you may also submit comments via email to Chris Jowell.
