Office for Education
Community Partnerships
Academic success depends on all of us. In order for students to succeed in school, they need support from their teachers and parents but also from the larger community.
The Office for Education works to involve community members in projects that help prepare children for school and that help them succeed once they begin school. Through the Families and Education Levy, we support the work of community-based organizations throughout Seattle.
Hold Your Meeting in a Seattle School!
Community Nights in Schools is an alternative to the regular Seattle School District rental program. It provides community groups easy access to Seattle School District space for their meetings and activities at a reduced fee. This program is in response to Neighborhood Plans, which identified a lack of inexpensive meeting places for Seattle communities. Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Department of Neighborhoods and Seattle Public Schools are working together to implement Community Nights in Schools, making more schools available for community groups.
