Welcome to the Southeast District!
Southeast Seattle, also known as Rainier Valley, is a blend of long-time residents and an influx of South East Asians and East African residents and businesses. Southeast has become culturally diverse and has experienced growing pains. Sound Transit has developed a rail system along Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, a major north-south arterial. The New Holly and Rainier Vista housing developments have altered the housing stock and tax base. Columbia City has transitioned into a popular place of destination. The Southeast District is bounded by Lake Washington on the east, Martin Luther King Jr. Way South on the west, Interstate 90 on the north and Seattle city limits to the south. Throughout the district, there are a number of organizations supportive of their unique neighborhoods.
