Welcome to the Delridge District!
For many people in the past, “Delridge” was nothing more than a busy street, but with the recent emergence of strong leadership and active citizens, residents today define Delridge as a community of ethnic, and economically, diverse neighborhoods. The old working-class neighborhoods of Pigeon Point, Youngstown, White Center and Highland Park have renewed energy, as new neighborhoods like Cottage Grove, Puget Ridge, Sunrise Heights, and Westwood are born. A totally new mixed-income neighborhood has been created with the redevelopment of High Point. One of Delridge’s strengths, without question, is its people. Traditionally, immigrants and residents have moved here for a variety of reasons– affordable housing, a community or culture with whom they can identify, or maybe the “not-so-urban” feel of the area. Whatever the reason, it would be difficult to find a more diverse group of residents living in one District.
