Mayor's statement on the Nobel Peace Prize

SEATTLE – Mayor Greg Nickels today released this statement on President Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Winning the Nobel Peace Prize is an incredible achievement for President Obama and a truly wonderful moment for the entire nation. We elected a man who inspired us to embrace higher aspirations for ourselves and our country. He has now inspired the rest of the world, too. There is much work left to be done, as President Obama has acknowledged. But the Nobel Peace Prize affirms that America is once again the world’s moral leader. Let us now renew our commitment to achieve the President’s objectives on climate change and other issues that have long divided the nations of the world.”
