Mayor's Youth Council Member Cole Austin Cole Austin
Mayor's Youth Council Member Lily Clifton Lily Clifton
Lily Clifton is a sophomore at Nathan Hale High School and she represents the Magnolia /Queen Anne Neighborhood. While she is very devoted and interested in her school work, Lily also loves working with Discovery Parks Nature Day Camp as a Junior Naturalist. At Nathan Hale, Lily is a part of Diversity Club. Her favorite subjects in school are Math, Language Arts and Ecology. She wanted to join MYC because she wanted to make a difference in her community and also get an inside look at our cities government.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Laura DAsaroLaura D'Asaro
Laura D'Asaro is a sophomore at Nathan Hale High school and is no stranger to volunteering. Laura applied for and won a $500 GameStop youth grant and spent the summer selling lemonade and cookies next to the Burke-Gilman trail, ultimately raising $13,000 for new play equipment at Matthews Beach Park. Her venture was noticed by three local TV stations, a radio station an both the Seattle Times and PI. She is active in Diversity club, Earth Corps, ICO club, and FCCLA, as well as volunteering with John Rogers Elementary School's horse camp and doing gymnastics.
Jasmine Davis
Jasmine Davis is a bright young student who has the potential to excel in anything. She is a junior at Garfield High School and has a lot of school pride. She represents the East area of Seattle but is also well acquainted with the central district. She is involved in various extra-curricular activities while maintaining a high GPA. Jasmine joined the Mayor’s Youth Council to be involved with her city and have an impact on decisions made throughout Seattle. After high school Jasmine plans on attending a 4-year college/university. She wants to own her own radio station.
Alex Dawson
Alex Dawson attends University Prep, a private school north of the University of Washington, and is currently a senior in high school. He lives in Madison Park where he lives with his parents and two younger sisters. He was born in New York City, and moved to Seattle when he was four years old. He attended McGilvra Elementery School for grades K-5. He has traveled many places, including Europe, Australia, and a community service trip to El Salvador. He is passionate about sports, politics, and current events. Some of the most important local issues to him are transportation and education. Next year he will go to college, and is now applying to schools. Some of his top choices are Northwestern, Boston College, University of Michigan, USC, Vanderbilt, and the University of Washington. He is undecided about what he wants do with his future, but is considering, business, law, or journalism.
Casey Egan
Casey Egan is a junior at Garfield High School, from the Seward Park area of Seattle. Casey’s favorite thing to do in life is play sports; and the issue he is most passionate about is Crime. He believes strongly that the crime rate really needs to be lowered. Casey has volunteered with Powerful Schools and tutors elementary school students twice a week. In his spare time, Casey plays sports and hangs out with friends.

Dillon Eng is a second year member in his Senior year at Nathan Hale High School. He represents the Lake City area of Seattle. Dillon enjoys learning about issues that concern youth in the city and loves his local library. At school, Dillon plays on the football team and is a leader of the debate team. He is also an active member of his church youth group and enjoys many activities.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Jasmine GervaisJasmine Gervais
Jasmine Gervais is a senior at the Center School. She lives in the Delridge/West Seattle area. She is a Running Start student, currently taking art classes at Seattle Central Community College. As a former welfare recipient, her political interest is deeply routed with a personal desire for class equality and assistance for those in need. Inspired by her little brother James, she has worked with young children in both daycare and art programs for several years. Her interests include aviation, mathematics and karate. Her favorite activities are painting, going to concerts, and late night adventures through the city with her good friends.

Mayor's Youth Council Member Alex Hyde-WrightAlex Hyde-Wright
Alex Hyde-Wright was born in Seattle, but grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. He moved back to Seattle two years ago, and he currently attends Ingraham High School and represents the Northwest neighborhood. For the past two years, Alex has been on his school cross-country and soccer team. He has also participated in ACE, a mentorship program for students interested in the fields of architecture and engineering. Alex is currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program at Ingraham and plans to attend college after he graduates.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Megan JiMegan Ji
Megan Ji is excited to serve her second year on the Mayor’s Youth Council as a representative for the Ballard neighborhood. She is a junior at Garfield High School where she maintains a rigorous academic schedule and a cumulative 4.0 grade point average. A varsity debater on her school’s Debate Team, she also volunteers as a debate coach at Washington Middle School. She studies dance intensively at ARC School of Ballet and enjoys swimming, traveling, and playing tennis.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Hee-Sun KangHee-Sun Kang
Hee-Sun Kang is a senior at Nathan Hale High School and is serving her second term on the Mayor's Youth Council. At school she is a member of the debate team, Diversity Club, and the swim team. She is also an editor for her school newspaper, The Sentinel. Outside of school she volunteers with Parkview Services, which serves people with developmental disabilities. Her hobbies include reading, checking mail, and watching The Office. The issues Hee-Sun is most passionate about are education and increasing political activism among young people. She represents the North Seattle neighborhood.
Mira Kraft
Mira Kraft is 16, attends The Center School and represents Phinney Ridge. Mira most enjoys her Humanities class in school where she was in fact inspired to join Mayors Youth council. She is also a part of Students Inspiring Political Action (SIPA) and Womans group. Mira lives for poetry, good talks, laughing and her close homies (DK, Pufafa squad and jade). Mira is most interested in finding a way towards solving domestic abuse and poverty.
Andrew Lewis
Andrew Lewis is a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council representing the Ballard area of Seattle. He attends The Center School, where he is Junior Class Treasurer, a Model United Nations member, and an active community member. He campaigned hard for John Kerry in 2004, and used the results as a learning experience. The day after the election Andrew founded the Seattle High School Young Democrats with six of his friends; today the organization boasts over 50 Seattle High School aged students and Andrew has been elected three times to serve as the organizations president. Andrew has been active in local campaigns for the past few years, serving as a volunteer, intern, field organizer, volunteer coordinator, steering committee member, and brain trust to many candidates for City Council and even Mayor. Andrew is eager to serve Ballard and the City of Seattle on the Mayor's Youth Council, he looks forward to working together to solve the cities problems and move us forward.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Hong NguyenHong Nguyen
Hong Nguyen, currently a senior at Evergreen High School, represents the Delridge (White Center) area. As an aspiring physician, she wants to see the world change for the better. Hong attends South Seattle Community College through the Running Start program, is Vice President of Evergreen’s National Honor’s Society and has been a dedicated representative of the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society for the past eight years. Hong is also a volunteer at Highline Hospital as well as a newly assistant volunteer teacher at the Van Lang Vietnamese School. Her hobbies include tennis, piano, baking, singing and performing.

Mayor's Youth Council Member Kami Prentice Kami Prentice
Kami Prentice is a senior at Franklin high school who represents the Duwamish neighborhood. She is very committed to her work and enjoys working with others. She is apart of the Black student Union, Earth Corps, F.A.S.T team and Black Achievers program at her school. She may come across quiet but she isn't afraid to speak up when she has something to say. She enjoys meeting new people because everyone has something different to offer. She likes to be apart of programs that can introduce her to different things and also help her gain skills in the process, that's why she joined the Mayor's Youth Council. She likes to do things that help her get one step closer to her future.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Mariana RazoMariana Razo
Mariana Razo is a junior at West Seattle High School. When she sets her mind to something she is committed to following through with it. She is a very respectful, honest and responsible person. She is always open to new ideas and loves to work with others and make a difference. Mariana is hoping to improve on her ability to speak up despite being shy through her work with the Mayor's Youth Council. Her goals are to graduate from high school and pursue her education, though isn’t sure what profession she would like to pursue; possibly an immigration lawyer, social worker or a teacher. She knows that in what ever she does, she wants to help people and show that there are positive things about Latin people, not just that they are the majority of immigrants in this country.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Colleen Ross Colleen Ross
Colleen Ross is a senior at Garfield High School and represents Downtown Seattle She is very devoted to school work, but also participates in outside activities like Junior Classical League, the Drama Club, Junior Statesmen of America and, of course, the Mayor’s Youth Council. Her favorite subjects are Chemistry and AP Calculus. She is interested in careers in law and mechanical engineering. She decided to join the Mayor’s Youth Council to make a difference in her community and find out more information about the inner workings of city government.
Mayor's Youth Council Member Philip SolomonPhilip Solomon
Philip Solomon came to the United States when he was six years old; he now attends West Seattle High school as a senior. This is his first year on the Mayor’s Youth Council; however he is deeply involved in numerous other extracurricular activities at his school including the National Honor Society, where he has been elected as an Executive Board member, Student Government, as ASB President, and also the Model United Nations club, in which he has participated for the past three years and presided as Chairman during his Junior year. Through these leadership positions, Philip hopes to leave a lasting mark on his high school by advocating for student involvement and better student representation. Philip also has high hopes for the future; as a stellar student who never settles for the minimum, he plans on attending a university in the Ivy League where he will pursue a career in medicine. After finishing college, he will, of course, return to the great city of Seattle.

Japjit Verraich
Japjit Verraich is attending West Seattle High School as a junior. During the spring, she plays softball for WSHS. Also, she is a part of the Debate class/club, National Honor Society, Team Read, Summer Search and the MESA Academy. Most recently she has completed a religious project: Virsa which artistically displays the history of Sikhism. She represents the Delridge neighborhood in south west Seattle with hopes to make a positive change in her community. Japjit has studied in India in a boarding school for 2 ½ years. She loves to work with children, and plans to pursue a career in pediatrics.
Oliver Wyckoff
Oliver Wyckoff is an avid humanitarian who loves to ask questions and challenge assumptions. He is a junior at the Center School and lives in Wallingford. Education is very important to him. So much so, he helped to found SUPER the Student Union for Progressive Education Reform. He likes to read, swim and practice Aikido. Above all, Oliver likes to debate issues with his friends, because the only way to truly learn about a subject is to study all sides and then defend your opinion.
