2007 GUN VIOLENCE SUMMIT

On Dec. 3, 2007, the City of Seattle and the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center, with funding from the Joyce Foundation, organized a historic one-day summit focused on reducing gun violence in Washington State. The summit drew more than 160 participants from around the state, including police, prosecutors, school officials, and representatives from the faith community, as well as local and state government. Participants discussed gun violence risk factors, effective interventions and areas in need of additional study and research. At the close of the summit, participants agreed to form a coalition to reduce gun violence in Washington State.
