“Clean & Green Seattle is about working together to make Seattle a brighter, cleaner place—one neighborhood at a time. By connecting neighbors with the city departments, non-profit organizations and private enterprises that can help them, we can make our communities more inviting for everyone to use.

As of March, 2008, there have been 79 major Clean & Green Seattle events. Clean & Green teams have:

  • Collected more than 313,808 pounds of litter and debris;
  • Recycled more than 12,648 pounds of recyclable materials;
  • Used more than 89 tons of asphalt to repair potholes and streets;
  • Repaired more than 3,817 streetlights;
  • Painted-out more than 5,879 graffiti sites;
  • Planted 7,511 plants and flowers;
  • Swept more than 475 curb miles of residential streets;
  • Cleaned up more than 145 illegal dumpsites;
  • Cleaned 133 signs in 2006;
  • Replaced 50 signs in 2007;
  • Pressure washed 21,358 square feet of hard surfaces each year;
  • Scheduled emergency preparedness information presentations for two homeowner associations representing a total of 1,000 homes (meetings scheduled in 2007)
  • More than 9,941 volunteers have participated in community level activities.
