Report on Clean Seattle Initiative
92nd Clean & Green Seattle - Southeast Seattle Senior Center
On Saturday, November 17, 2008, Mayor Greg Nickels led more than sixty (60) volunteers as they cleaned Rainier Ave South from Rose to Brandon. Participants included Rainier Othello Safety Association, Othello Neighborhood Group, Hillman City Business Association, Hillman City Neighborhood Alliance, Mehane Alem Ethopian Evangelical Church and residents. City Council member Sally Clark and Department of Neighborhoods Director also participated. Volunteers picked up litter along Rainier Ave S. More than 12 tons of litter and debris were removed Southeast Seattle streets as result of the clean-up.
The Department of Neighborhoods, Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Department of Corrections, King County DAJD and Seattle Public Utilities also assisted in the effort. Anthony Harris took digital photographs.
