Report on Clean Seattle Initiative
83rd Clean & Green Seattle - Pioneer Square
On Saturday, May 17, 2008, Mayor Greg Nickels led more than eighty (80) volunteers as they cleaned Pioneer Square and its surrounding area. Participants included Pioneer Square Community Association, Downtown Emergency Service Center, Lazarus Center Residents and business owners. Volunteers removed invasive plants, clean Fortson Park and picked up litter. More than 600 pounds of litter and debris were removed Pioneer Square streets.
Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Department of Corrections, King County DAJD and Seattle Public Utilities also assisted in the effort. Anthony Harris took digital photographs.
