Cleanup: Georgetown
Date of Cleanup: July 19th and 20th
Target Area: I-5 to the Duwamish and South Hudson to 16th Swift/Albro
Departments: Parks, Department of Neighborhoods, Seattle Transportation, City Light, Seattle Public Utilities, DCLU, Arts Commission, Department of Corrections, SPD Crime Prevention
Cleanup Activities:
- Removed 163 graffiti tags from public property and conducted 27 paintouts of graffiti.
- Collected 97 bags of litter and removed litter and trash 1,455 pounds from five miles of city streets.
Cleaned 11 illegal dumpsites removing 6,020 pounds of debris and recycled 200 pounds of recyclable materials.
- Crews patched potholes using three tons of asphalt mix.
- Swept 18 curb miles of streets with mechanical street sweeper.
- Replaced 13 damaged signs.
- Repaired/replaced 138 street lights
- Took down 1 pair of shoes.
- Painted one curb.
Miscellaneous
- The Department of Parks and Recreation made repairs to the perimeter fence around Georgetown Park. They also up-graded the lights in the Comfort Station making them much brighter.
Volunteer Activity
- 25 community volunteers came together to plant flowers, weed, and pick up litter in and around the Georgetown Playfield under oversight of Parks staff.
