Report on Clean Seattle Initiative

Cleanup:  Delridge

Date of Cleanup:  May 20, 2004

Departments:  Seattle Parks and Recreation, Department of Neighborhoods, Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle City Light, Seattle Public Utilities Community Services Division

On March 20, Mayor Greg Nickels and more than 50 residents, business owners, and other community volunteers joined forces to clean up Roxhill Park and surrounding business district. Members of the Westwood Neighborhood Council, Delridge Neighborhood Development Association worked with students from Chief Sealth High School, Residents, and Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation staff to weed and spruce up Roxhill Park. Meanwhile, neighborhood residents and business owners picked up litter along sidewalks of South Delridge.

Cleanup Activities:

  • Overgrowth - cut 2 locations near Longfellow Creek trail


  • Asphalt - used 1 1/2 tons of asphalt to patch 9 potholes


  • Gravel Patching - used 2 tome of asphalt grindings to fill holes at 22 Ave SW & Elmgrove


  • Swept - 19 curb miles picking up 9 tons of debris


  • 98 street lights repaired/ maintained


  • 9.2 Miles Cleaned


  • 5 acres Cleaned


  • 83 Bags = 1,245 lbs of Litter


  • 120 graffiti paintouts


  • 233 lbs shrubbery removed
