77th Clean & Green Seattle - Lake City
Little Brook Park. On Saturday, February 2, 2008, Seattle Parks & Recreation Superintendent Tim Gallagher, on behalf of Mayor Greg Nickels, led more than thirty (30) volunteers to plant bushes, spread mulch; prune twenty-five trees (25) trees and restore creek habitat in North Seattle. Representatives from the Jackson Park House & Village, a SHA complex near the park, Youth Tutoring Program at Jackson Park House and Village, Lake City Chamber of Commerce, Lake City Farmers Market, Greater Lake City Community Council, Eritrean Kidisti Sillassie Orthodox Curch and Hope Bible Fellowship came together to improve the park. Miriam Preus, Pro Parks Senior Gardener organized a significant menu of park enhancement work for all volunteers—ages 5 years to 80 years.
SHA Director Executive Tom Tierney was presented with more than five hundred (500) Climate Action Now (CAN) compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs and “get started” cards for the SHA Jackson Park House & Village complex.
Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Department of Neighborhoods, Seattle Department of Transportation, the Department of Corrections and Seattle Public Utilities also assisted in the effort.
