Middle School Out-of-School Time: leveraging volunteer service to support middle school students by volunteering with academic, enrichment, and recreation opportunities during out of school time.
What happens in the classroom is only part of the picture. Students need support outside of school hours and in the challenging transition to high school, too. Our Out of School Time Initiative works to address those needs by partnering with the Seattle Parks & Recreation Department and the YMCA who operate middle school Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in partnership with the schools. These CLCs offer students programs in academic support, enrichment, and recreation, for which volunteers are recruited based on students’ needs and interests. For these middle school Out-of School Time programs, we are recruiting volunteers who can both support or help lead a program for a semester or quarter. If you have time, talent and passions to share, contact us – Seattle’s middle school youth need your support.
