Developing Emerging Leaders

Community organizing means different things to different people, but at its core it’s about community members pooling their individual resources to create enough collective power to be able to change their communities for the better. In order to help interested Seattleites become more effective community organizers, the Mayor’s Office offers a free two-day course called Engage Seattle Organizing Training. The first day uses the teachings of Marshall Ganz to discuss the basics of public narrative and strategy, and the second day goes more deeply into Seattle-specific institutions and legislative advocacy.

Click on Organizing 101 or Advocacy 101 to see some of the content from the course, or check out the agendas for Saturday and Sunday.
