Getting Results
We are currently experiencing longer turnaround times than usual that will continue through the weekend. Expect results in 48-72 hours.
You can retrieve your test results by:
- Use the camera app on your phone to scan the QR code that was given to you at the test site
- Go to the UW Medicine COVID-19 SecureLink results portal and enter your 16-digit retrieval code and your date of birth
If you are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, continue to practice social distancing until you are better. Use a separate bedroom and bathroom, if possible. If not, stay at least six feet apart from others while sleeping or talking.
Testing Positive
If you've tested positive, you must isolate yourself to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Learn how to isolate and quarantine from King County Public Health.
You might receive a call from state or county health officials if you test positive. The caller will help figure out if you have exposed family, friends or co-workers to the virus. They will not ask about your immigration status, social security number or finances. Any information they collect will only be shared with public health professionals who are working to contain the virus. The caller can also help connect you to any support you might need.
Testing Negative
If you've tested negative but have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, continue to quarantine for 14 days. It can take up to 14 days for symptoms to appear. If you are not experiencing symptoms and have not been exposed, continue to follow King County Public Health guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
For support interpreting your results, call your provider or King County's COVID-19 Call Center at (206) 477-3977. The line is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The King County COVID-19 Call Center can also help you if you have no safe place to stay apart from others.
How your information is shared
The results from all COVID-19 tests flow into the Washington Disease Reporting System (WDRS), an electronic disease surveillance system that allows public health staff in Washington state to receive, enter, manage, process, track and analyze disease-related data. As part of this flow, results are shared with Public Health Seattle-King County. Washington State and King County publish aggregated COVID-19 data every day on their websites. Find aggregated COVID-19 data for Washington state on this website and for King County on this website.
