The Community Solar project at the Seattle Aquarium has sold out earlier than expected!
In just a few weeks, we have successfully sold all of the 1800 Community Solar units available for purchase by
our customers. We believe this is due to the following factors:
Based on customer feedback from the first project at Jefferson Park, we lowered the
price of each unit from $600 to $150
Seattle's affinity for its Aquarium and the preservation of our coastal environment
Declining costs of solar technology and installation, minimal structural costs and
better than expected solar production at Jefferson Park allowed us to project a
potential payback for Community Solar at the Aquarium
While we were confident that Community Solar at the Aquarium offered a more accessible
program for our diverse customer base, we did not anticipate the overwhelming and fast
response, and we are thrilled to have such enthusiasm for the program. Thank you City Light
customers for your continued support of our community and environment and for proving
that solar does work in Seattle!
Frequently Asked Questions from City Light customers:
Congrats City Light - that was fast! I'd still like to be kept informed
on the progress of this initiative, the launch event or updates on production
at the Aquarium. Is that possible?
Of course! We love to share the good news. Please enter your email in the box on the right
to be added to our e-mail list.
Wow - I'm sorry I missed that. Is there another Community Solar
program in the works or do I have other options?
While we don't have another project planned at this time, we are always exploring exciting
and new ways to provide value to our customers. Your interest in affordable and accessible
solar options is something we want to hear about, especially because the possibility of a
third (or fourth or fifth) project is based in great part on overall interest and demand.
We would be thrilled if you'd drop us a note at
City Light Energy Advisor. Tell us why you like the program and whether you would have
participated if we had had more units available. Or ask questions or just give us your feedback.
We also encourage you to take a look at some of our other available programs like Green Up and Solarize
Seattle Central/Southeast, which you can read about on our website or by visiting our partner Northwest SEED
