MILLIONAIR CLUB CHARITY URBAN FARM

Using City Light energy-efficiency rebates, The Millionair Club, a nonprofit that supports Seattle’s homeless, built a 250-square foot urban garden in their basement. The garden uses hydroponics systems to grow vegetables without soil and can produce enough vegetables to serve 19,200 bowls of salad a year. The key to growing plants in a basement is a system of costly LED lighting fixtures, made more affordable with the help of the rebate program.
