ELECTRICAL RELOCATIONS

Elevating the Light Rail Track Requires Moving Power Lines

As the light rail train leaves the Maple Leaf portal and heads north, its track must align with the proposed Northgate Station. To do that the track must bear to the east side of 1st Avenue NE. Proper clearances are needed from lower 26kV distribution power lines along 1st Avenue NE. So, the lines must be undergrounded between NE 98th and NE 107th Streets. Higher voltage transmission lines in that same area must be relocated. They will not be undergrounded, but will be relocated and remain in the air.

Estimated start for the distribution line work (early 2014) to estimated completion (September 2014). Estimated start for transmission line work (early 2014) to estimated completion date (late 2016).
