Making History
Never before has a utility in the United States made such a clear commitment to fight global warming by declaring that it will compensate for all of the greenhouse gases it creates in meeting the electricity demands of its customers. Once again, the City of Seattle/Seattle City Light is demonstrating its leadership in protecting the environment. And this commitment is moving forward in the face of an unprecedented energy crisis.

City Light accelerates fulfilling this pledge to protect the climate with this landmark request for climate mitigation project proposals. The Mayor, City Council and City Light hope to see strong interest from within Seattle and from around the region. All those who are interested are encouraged to attend.
