City Light Provides Critical Care for Medical Centers -- Wins National Award for Work with Harborview Medical Center and Fred Hutchison Cancer Center |
SEATTLE--Seattle City Light has received national recognition for leadership in providing cost effective technology solutions to the critical problems of healthcare providers. Gary Zarker, superintendent of the municipal utility, will present the "Technical Achievement Award" from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) at the City Council meeting today, 2:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. Zarker will also present a letter noting the outstanding efforts of City Light Account Executive David Docter, who has worked extensively with area hospitals on their power needs as they add facilities and expand patient services.
Docter coordinated the innovative use of technology to improve electric service at the Fred Hutchison Cancer Center and at Harborview Medical Center. City Light's work on electric reliability and power quality at these facilities helps the hospitals upgrade their operations as competition and regulation rapidly reshape the country's healthcare industry.
