SEATTLE-Seattle City Light's Conservation Website has been named the Best Government Agency Site in the Web Marketing Association's 1998 judging of more than 500 sites from around the world. The utility website promotes conservation as a smart investment. It is one of the sites offered on Seattle City Light's web pages, part of the city's Public Access Network. It can be found at
Describing the reasons behind the award, the Association judges said, "Great service on behalf of a municipality. This site is useful to anyone in the country, if not the world. Seattle has always been innovative in using technology, and this is another example of that use."
The site was developed by utility staff Bruce Blood, Claire Wray, and Sidney Freeman who works directly with conservation field staff, and NancyEllen Regier of the city's Executive Services Department.
