City Light, NW Energy Coalition, Climate Solutions Lead Discussion on Meeting Energy Needs
SEATTLE - U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Seattle) joins Seattle City Light Superintendent Jorge Carrasco and leaders of several environmental groups Wednesday to discuss new energy policies around carbon emissions and climate change issues under a new administration.
"City Light is committed to providing a better energy future for our community," Carrasco said. Our strategic plan embraces a new energy order and we are planning for these changes.
"We are working to find new, renewable energy resources, reduce climate-affecting pollution, promote energy conservation and make Seattle the capitol of the new energy economy," he said. "We also want to hear from you, our customers, about how we can work together to turn our challenges into opportunities through environmentally friendly solutions."
The discussion is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Seattle Central Branch Library, 1000 Fourth Ave. (Level 4, Room 1).
All attendees will receive a free compact fluorescent light bulb.
Inslee represents much of the Puget Sound area in Washington’s 1st Congressional District. He serves on the House’s Committees on Natural Resources and Energy and Commerce as well as the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
Also participating in the discussion are K.C. Golden, policy director for Climate Solutions, a nonprofit group created to accelerate solutions to global warming, and Sara Patton, director for the NW Energy Coalition, a nonprofit organization that promotes the development of renewable energy and energy conservation.
